Most small businesses in the United States are sole proprietorship firms and don’t have employees. As a company grows, however, adding motivated employees and building the right team is critical for success.

Understanding trends in employment (and unemployment) will help owners and entrepreneurs with that planning process, and also provide a window onto how consumer spending, inflation and survival rates change for small businesses over time as a result of changing employment trends.
